According to speculation today, Swansea City are close to signing young Chelsea striker Fabio Borini.

We reported earlier that Brendan Rodgers was quoted in the Evening Post saying that he was looking to strengthen his attacking options via the emergency loan window, and it looks like Italian Borini is top of his targets list.

It’s been mentioned on various social networking sites among others, that his agent believes the move will happen ‘very quickly’.

The 19 year-old striker has served his country at every level up to under-21s, making a total of 67 international appearances since 2007 and scoring 22 goals.

Borini started his career at Bologna before joining Chelsea in 2007 and was a regular for the Reserves team, netting 10 goals in 11 games.

He made 8 appearances for the Chelsea senior side last season, including 4 in the League, but he has yet to feature this year.

In October 2010, Borini scored an impressive 5 goals in a single Reserves match, to produce an amazing comeback for Chelsea who were 3-0 down against West Brom, they went on to win 5-4.

We should hear more information on the possible loan transfer tomorrow, and possibly a few quotes from Brendan Rodgers on what stage the club is at in terms of completing a move.
