Swansea City host Nottingham Forest in their first home game of the season on Saturday and Roberto Martinez and the team will be looking to bounce back following last week`s 2-0 defeat a way at Charlton.
Nottingham Forest are also searching for their first win of the season after holding one of the title favourites – Reading to a goalless draw at home.
The Reds have spent big this Summer, paying 2.65million for former Cardiff City striker Robert Earnshaw plus over 1.3million on other recruits.
Colin Calderwood`s side finished 10 points below the Swans last season to finish in second place but you feel the sides will finish much closer this year in what is a very tight League.
‘We’re looking forward to it,’
I think it should be a proper celebration of the efforts from the last campaign and we’ll see if we can get a good result.
‘Forest try to play football, they got the ball down and I think it will be a real open game. From the fans’ point of view it’ll be enjoyable if both sides carry on with the flow that was on show in the first game of the league.’
‘It is important to get the first win but I think it’s important to win football games.
‘We need to make sure that the players enjoy their football and they feel comfortable playing at this level, you only do that by performing well and winning football games.
‘We do want to win the game but I’m looking at the performance, if we have a good performance and improve on what we did last Saturday I’ll be happy.’
Swansea City Team News:
Roberto Martinez looks set to be boosted this weekend with the returns of Jason Scotland and possibly Gorka Pintado.
Last season`s top scorer, Scotland, is in line for a start while new signing Pintado could make the bench.
Angel Rangel is also making his way back from injury after featuring in the midweek Carling Cup win against Brentford.
The Swansea boss has a bit of selection headache as Shaun MacDonald and Jordi Gomez impressed on Tuesday while the likes of Andrea Orlandi and Alberto Serran are also looking for their first League starts of the campaign.
Federico Bessone however will miss out after breaking a rib during the game, and will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.
Player to watch: Ferrie Bodde
The Dutchman will be vital for us to get a good result tomorrow. He can dictate the play and make things happen for us in the final third. Darren Pratley and Leon Britton also performed well at Charlton as we dominated the midfield for long periods of the game.
Nottingham Forest Team News:
Nottingham Forest will be missing a number of key players.
Former loanee Paul Anderson won`t feature as he has a thigh strain. Nathan Tyson is also sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Calderwood will have just one striker available – Robert Earnshaw as former Manchester United striker Andrew Cole has a calf problem and Joe Garner is suffering with a knee injury.
Welsh international Arron Davies is also out with a calf injury but James Perch, Luke Chambers, Lewis McGugan and Kelvin Wilson should all return.
Player to watch: Guy Moussi
Stood out last week against Reading and was their man of the match. The defence will have to deal with him and limit the amount of long range shots he gets on goal because he`s not afraid to try his luck from distance.
Match Facts & Stats
Nottingham Forest will be looking for their first win away at Swansea for 25 years.
The last 3 meetings between the teams have all been 0-0. Hopefully that`ll be ended on Saturday in Swansea`s favour.
Swansea City haven`t experienced a home win against Nottingham Forest in the League for 53 years.
The two sides have met 53 times, Forest edge it with 21 wins against 20 for the Swans, with 12 draws.
The last 3 meetings have all been draws and unfortunately I can’t see it being any different this weekend. I think we’ll battle back to earn a 1-1 draw.
