Sky Sports are reporting that Swansea City look set to win the race to sign Newcastle United winger Wayne Routledge.

The Magpies have accepted bids from the Swans as well as Leicester City while Nottingham Forest have also shown an interest in the 26 year-old.

It was thought that big-spending Leicester City were favourites to land Routledge as they were able to offer more attractive personal terms, but Sky Sports ‘understand’ that Swansea City are ‘poised’ to win the battle to secure his services.

With a fee of around £2m already agreed with Newcastle United, Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has already admitted that the hard bit now is agreeing terms with the player.

The Swans boss is still looking to strengthen ahead of the season opener on August 15th. Rodgers still needs another goalkeeper and there are also other targets in mind including Middlesbrough duo Marvin Emnes and Leroy Lita.
