Reports in Sweden say that Swansea City will sign striker Modou Barrow next week from Swedish 2nd division side Ostersund.

The 21 year-old posted a picture on his twitter account earlier this week of himself ready to board a plan as he traveled to Swansea for talks.

He is expected to return to the city on Wednesday or Thursday next week to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

The Ostersund president Daniel Kindberg said:

‘We are especially excited for the respect shown by Swansea for our club during these intense negotiations.

I have never been through a major deal and I do not know if I will be involved with something like that again.’

Barrow is one of the biggest young prospects in the Swedish leagues and has caught the attention of Everton, Hull, QPR and Celtic – but it appears that Swansea have won the race to sign the youngster.

Earlier this month, Kindberg also said:

‘We have rejected a £600,000 bid,`

‘We put Modou in the price range of £1.5m but it depends on the structure and sell-on clause. We also want to look after the player.

‘He has just arrived back from Bolton because we have an important game on Friday when we start the autumn part of the season.

‘We had a very encouraging report from (Bolton boss) Dougie Freedman about the player. We also have interest from Celtic, Middlesbrough and Swansea.’

The player’s agent also added:

‘There is a great deal of interest in Modou and that is no surprise as he been the best player in Sweden this season,’
