The deal was all but done, with both parties seemingly agreeing on a season-long-loan switch. Now the Swans can confirm that a deal has been official completed.

Swansea City will have to pay an initial fee to Spurs’ and an option to review the loan, said to be in January.

Huw Jenkins confirmed: ‘We are delighted to have agreed terms with Tottenham regarding a deal for Steven.

‘The deal has been very close for the last couple of weeks. I met (Tottenham chairman) Daniel Levy at a Premier League meeting in Darlington and spoke at length about Steven.

‘We feel his general size and ability are perfect qualities to add to our team.

‘Steven is a young, upcoming player that is a big talent, and he is looking forward to being part out our squad in the Premier League.

‘It is an exciting signing for us. There was other interest in him prior to this deal being agreed, but Tottenham felt it was perfect for Steven to continue his deal here.’

Steven Caulker has recently signed a new contract at White Hart Lane which runs until 2013, after two successful loan stints at Bristol City and Yeovil Town.

This is of course fantastic news for Swansea City who finally have their man and also becomes the second signing this summer, after Danny Graham’s £3.5 million switch from Watford.
