Swansea City look set to sign Dundee United striker Francisco Sandaza after he impressed during a trial last week.

The Scottish Premier League side are looking to offload the frontman as he suffered from injuries last season which limited him to just 8 appearances all year. For the first 7 months he was sidelined with hernia problems before returning in March, but after just 8 games he out again with a hamstring injury.

Despite having a number of injury problems recently, Brendan Rodgers is willing to take a chance on the striker, who has the quality to perform well when fully fit. How often that will be we don’t yet know but we can’t afford to have another Craig Beattie in the squad – a player who is constantly in the treatment room.

Dundee United manager Peter Houston said:

‘Fran looks to be moving on and I believe Swansea have agreed a package with him,’

‘He is one of our top earners but because of his fitness problems we’ve not been able to get him on the pitch and Swansea are willing to take a chance on him.’

Rodgers is still looking to sign Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury on loan, but the manager revealed after last night’s Cup win at Tranmere Rovers that the move is still ‘pending’ as the Premiership side have a few injury problems to consider first.
