Swansea City have released goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel and Marvin Emnes
Swansea City have released goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel and Marvin Emnes, as the club begin their Summer clear-out.
It was bizarre, to say the least, to see Tremmel return to the club just a few months after he decided not to renew his contract in May 2015. By August though, he was back, signing a two-year contract has recently expired.
Since his ‘return’, the 38 year-old hasn’t made a single Premier League appearance, but has featured for the under-23s this year.
Emnes, meanwhile, is another that’s not a surprise to see leave. Making only a handful of league appearances in the last two years, he spent this season on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, scoring 4 goals in 35 appearances.
The Swans have also released a few younger players – Liam Shephard, Josh Vickers, Owain Jones, Tom Dyson and Tom Holland, while Alex Samuel has signed a contract at Stevenage.
Other players that could possibly leave this Summer include Bafetimbi Gomis, who would prefer to make his loan spell at Marseille permanent. Kyle Bartley is another fringe player who is keen to stay at Leeds, while left back Tabanou should be a player first on the exit list this Summer.
Other players who have had loan spells this season are Modou Barrow and Matt Grimes. Head coach Paul Clement has also said that he will make a decision on record-signing Borja Baston, and hasn’t ruled out giving him another chance in 207/18, but he has so far proved unable to adjust to the Premier League.
Are there any other players that the Swans should be looking to sell this Summer? Let us know in the comments below…
