Swansea City manager Graham Potter has praised match-winner Wayne Routledge this evening after his goal ended our 7-game losing run away from home, helping us to a 1-0 win at relegated side Ipswich Town.

Daniel James’ excellent strike from long range hit the post but it fell nicely for Routledge to finish into an empty net.

The goal, scored just before the hour mark , was enough to hold on for the win and sends the Swans up into the top half of the table and five points from the play-off places.

Graham Potter spoke highly of Wayne Routledge, saying he’s a “great person to have at the club”. Routledge has proved to be a useful player to have in the second half of the season after both him and Dyer were left out of the matchday squad in 2018.

His performances have prompted many Swans fans to talk about his future,  hoping he earns himself a new deal in the Summer as his current one expires in June. If Potter’s comments are anything to go by, he’ll be keen to see the 34-year-old stay for next year:

“I am really pleased with Wayne, he is a great person to have at the club,”

“He has conducted himself fantastically, he is enjoying his football and contributing to wins and points.

“He has been important for us, when you have a young squad looking to develop players you want experienced, good people around and Wayne is one of those.”
