Marcos Senna’s representative Eli Coimbra says that negotiations are ‘going very fast’ as Swansea City edge closer to securing the signing of the Villareal midfielder.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring him in to boost our squad for the Premier League season and Coimbra says a deal could be completed sooner than expected:

“He phoned coach Brendan Rodgers, who speaks perfect Spanish, who told him they wanted him,”

“I was thrilled because he saw they really want to have him on the team. The negotiations are going very fast and could be closed earlier than expected.”

With the loss of Darren Pratley, who turned down a new contract, Senna would be a superb replacement for him if he did sign as he’d give the squad some much needed experience in the midfield for what will be our toughest ever season.

Senna has made 273 appearances for Villareal in the Spanish top flight but it’s been reported that he wants to experience Premier League football.

The Swans would have to pay him far bigger wages than they would normally to existing players but it appears that a move to the Liberty Stadium for Senna could be possible in the coming weeks.
