Swansea City have been told to up their bid if they want to sign Middlesbrough striker Leroy Lita.

The Evening Post believe that the Swans have offered around £500,000 for the frontman, but Middlesbrough could ask for up to £3m for the player, whose contract expires next year.

Boro boss Tony Mowbray has been told to reduce the club’s wage bill and Leroy Lita is one of those high earners that they could risk losing for nothing at the end of next season.

Leroy Lita was a target for the Swans last year but we’re unlikely to increase our offer for him too much, having paid £3.5m for Danny Graham recently.

The 26 year-old scored 12 goals in 28 Championship starts for Middlesbrough last season.
