Swansea City boss Paulo Sousa is close to signing a new striker who could arrive at the club ahead of next week’s Pre-Season tour in Spain.

The 38 year-old says a frontman is his priority and the Evening Post believes that the new striker is a foreigner based in Britain.

Sousa said:

‘A striker is one of our priorities,’

‘We are already talking with some players with the characteristics we are looking for.

‘We are close to the deal. I hope in the next few days for him to come and train with us and integrate into our squad, environment and ideas.

‘I have some ideas about other players, but the priority is a striker.’

Sousa also shared his thoughts on new signing Jordi Lopez, he added:

‘He has a lot of maturity in his game. He is good technically and can receive the ball well, along with passing it both long and short.

‘He has a good understanding of the game and in set plays he has a great right foot. He will settle well into the squad.’
