Swansea City have submitted a £3m bid for Norwich City winger Anthony Pilkington

Swansea City have submitted a £3m bid for Norwich City winger Anthony Pilkington.

Following on from the news that the Swans are in talks with Bolton Wanderers about signing striker David Ngog, Pilkington is another player on their targets list.

The 25 year-old, who joined the Canaries in 2011 from Huddersfield for a £2m fee, has been out of action since November with a hamstring injury.

Norwich boss Chris Hughton appears to have no interest in selling Pilkington – who he believes is a ‘real asset’, despite bringing in Newcastle winger Gutierrez earlier this month.

‘It has been frustrating for him because he is a good player and even before my time I think when he is fully fit and firing he is a real asset,’ he said.

‘Unfortunately that is part and parcel of the game and something he has to deal with, but it is good to see him back. If you look at what we have had to deal with in the last month or so with injuries, it is good to start getting these players back.’

This season, Pilkington has made 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring 2 goals. 2 of those appearances include serving the Republic of Ireland in the World Cup qualifiers.
