Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says he’s hoping to complete the signing of Darnel Situ.

The 19 year-old agreed a 2-year contract to join the Swans from Lens in a move worth £250,000 to the French side.

Situ was expected to make the transfer to Swansea City in August – just as the Summer transfer window closed, but FIFA refused to give him international clearance, due to incomplete paperwork.

Rodgers, who looks likely to miss out on the signing of Cliftonville striker Rory Donnelly – with Everton now favourites to sign the youngster, is now hopeful to bring in Situ – a promising young defender:

‘Darnel is not ready to come straight into the first team, but he is a good kid who is hungry to do well,’

‘Hopefully we can close that deal in January and he will be a development player for us.’

‘There is some money, but not lots of money. We are not a club with millions and millions of pounds, but there will be something available.’
