Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers was obviously delighted to see his side win their first away match of the season, at Aston Villa.

The Swans produced arguably their best away performance of the season to keep a clean sheet and record their first victory on their travels, thanks to goals from wingers Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge.

Nathan Dyer benefited from Warnock’s bad mistake to net low into the corner after just 5 minutes. Swansea made a great start to the second half too, as Routledge doubled our lead after a poor clearance from the Villa goalkeeper.

Rodgers told BBC Sport:

‘It was a wonderful performance and everything that is good in our game was typified today,’

‘It was a great victory for us… we’ve had some really difficult games away from home against all the big clubs.’

‘Away from home I was never concerned… because of the level of performance, it was only going to be a matter of time,’

‘I said to the players that it’s a new year, now let’s make a new commitment and a new resolve away from home and could we get that victory in the first game?

‘So it’s a fantastic start to the year for us… to come to a wonderful club like Aston Villa and get a result.’
