Swansea City have handed Dutch Midfielder Michael van der Heijden a trial at the club.

Last season the 26 year old plyed his trade with FC Lisse who are in the Hoofdklasse the third tier of the Dutch game. Van Der Heijden also has had a trial with Erste Divise outfit RBC Roosendaal. From a young age the Dutchman had a passion for the game and moving through the amateur leagues in Holland with Lenig En Snel he made the move into the professional game with a move to Ado Den Haag.

Making his d├ębut on the 29th April 2001 in the 2-0 win over FC Zwolle, Van Der Heijden would make a further 34 appearances for the club.Whilst with Ado Den Hagg he played alongside Ferrie Bodde and Dorus De Vries.

Two seasons later the highly sought after midfielder made a move to RKC Waalwijk for ?1.9 million.Adding to his journeyman tag the Hauge born midfielder has also played for FC Dordrecht, Haarlem and FC Omniworld,Van Der Heijden is available on a free transfer.
