Swansea City striker Leroy Lita will join Birmingham City on a three-month loan move after passing a medical with the Championship club.

The 27 year-old will complete the temporary move on Saturday when the loan window opens.

Lita, signed for £1.75m by former boss Brendan Rodgers in Summer 2011, has struggled to earn a regular starting place with the Swans, and has scored 2 goals in 16 appearances, since he made his move from Middlesbrough.

He appears to be behind Danny Graham and Luke Moore in the forwards pecking order, and manager Michael Laudrup has often spoken about the need to reduce the size of his squad.

Other players to leave since Laudrup’s arrival include Stephen Dobbie, Andrea Orlandi, Fede Bessone, Scott Sinclair and Joe Allen.

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark spoke about his new loan signing, he said:

“I know Leroy very well having worked with him at Norwich during a loan spell in which he scored seven goals in 16 games.

“He`s a proven goalscorer who has power and pace and there`s no doubt that he`ll add quality to my squad.”

Laudrup is also looking to bring in a left back following the injury to Neil Taylor. The Welsh international suffered a broken ankle in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland and he’ll miss the remainder of the season.
