Former Swansea City defender Nigel Stevenson is tipping Swansea City for success in the play-offs, after being impressed by the quality of football they’ve played this season to get there.

Stevenson, who came in 19th in our Top 25 Players feature, ‘fancies’ the Swans to beat anyone at Wembley if they do reach the final.

I would fancy the Swans against anyone if they get to Wembley,’

‘The big pitch would be perfect ? it would suit their passing game down to the ground.

‘Every one of the Swansea players is comfortable on the ball, even the goalkeeper and all across the back four, and everyone knows what is expected of them.

‘They would relish playing at Wembley and whoever they were up against would be in for a difficult afternoon.

‘I hope it happens, because going up through the play-offs is a fantastic way of doing it.

Stevenson, who spent 12 years with the Swans at the Vetch Field, also praised Chelsea loanee striker Fabio Borini:

‘Some of the football has been excellent,’

‘The away form has been a bit disappointing at times and in the first half of the season I don’t think they scored enough goals.

‘But since the win at Middlesbrough (in February), the goals have started to flow.

‘Fabio Borini has come in and been a breath of fresh air. He has put himself about and made a nuisance of himself, but he has also been able to put the ball in the net.’

“Anything is possible in the play-offs, but the way the Swans play at home, you would fancy them to beat anyone there.

“They create a lot of chances at the Liberty and there seems to be a lot of belief, so being there in the second leg would be a big advantage.”
