The squad flew off to Holland this morning for their Summer Tour in The Hague.

Missing on the flight included trialists Ibrahima Thiam and Jamie Price, as well as striker Lee Trundle who looks set to complete a move to Bristol City this afternoon.

The squad will play 4 games in as many days as manager Roberto Martinez says he’s changing the emphasis from fitness to tactics.

He said:

‘We aim to take the second step in our preparations after Sweden,”

‘The trip to Sweden was to concentrate purely on fitness and team bonding. Everything out there went to plan and now we must move it on.

After our three friendlies against Welsh Premier opposition, our trip to Holland will give us the perfect opportunity to move away from the fitness side of things and concentrate more specifically on the tactical side.

‘While we will obviously be able to top up our fitness levels, playing four games in four days will also allow us to try a number of combinations and tactics in game related situations.

After Holland we should be ready for the big League challenge that lies ahead of us. By that I don’t mean I will be playing my League team against Levante, but everything should be a lot clearer.
