Paulo Sousa remains confident that his side will finish in the play-offs despite today’s 1-0 defeat at Bristol City.

Our failure to score goals was a problem yet again this afternoon as Gorka Pintado missed our best chance in the first half after a good ball through by Darren Pratley. Bristol City extended to their unbeaten run to 6 as Nicky Maynard got the winning goal on 84 minutes.

Thankfully our closest play-off rivals Blackpool were unable to close the gap on us as they lost 4-1 at Newcastle United.

Paulo Sousa said:

“We had good opportunities before Bristol scored and it is our main problem at the moment but we aren`t scoring when on top.

“We know that if we go in front we have the quality ball players to keep possession and frustrate the opposition.

“By not taking our chances, we are putting pressure on ourselves. But I still have great faith in my players and I firmly believe we can still achieve a play-off place.”
