Paulo Sousa has been linked with a move for Andrea Orlandi, who’s currently a free agent at Swansea City.

According to media reports today, our former manager is interested in taking the Spanish midfielder with him to Leicester City.

The 25 year-old has been stalling over a new contract for a few months now, and he may well be interested in joining Sousa at the Walkers Stadium. Orlandi struggled for first team appearances under Roberto Martinez, but his successor gave him a more regular first team role in the centre of midfield.

Before Sousa left for the Foxes, it was understood that Orlandi was set to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Liberty Stadium, but he may re-consider – and instead follow Paulo to Leicester.

Fans are split in their opinions of Andrea Orlandi. He didn’t particularly enjoy his first 2 years at the club under Martinez, who rarely gave him a first team opportunity so he found it difficult to prove himself. Sousa gave him a much bigger chance to show his true potential after bringing him from the wing and into a more central role. Some supporters wouldn’t miss the Spaniard at all. Not only because they don’t rate his ability – but also due to his hesitation in signing new contracts – the same happened last year. Other fans though believe he has the potential to be a good first teamer for the Swans.
