Paulo Sousa’s exit this week has put doubts on Hugo Colace’s expected free transfer to Swansea City.

The Argentinian midfielder is due to arrive at the Liberty Stadium later this week to finalise a move, as chairman Huw Jenkins previously said that we have ‘virtually agreed terms’.

However, with the club now managerless following Sousa’s switch to Leicester City, Colace may re-consider joining us.

The 26 year-old was Barnsley’s Player of the Year last season but he has rejected a new contract with the Tykes, which gives the chance to sign him on a free transfer.

Jenkins has by no means ruled out a move, but admits Colace may re-consider:

‘He’s still in South America,’

‘He wasn’t due to come over until later this week. He’s fully aware of the situation with Paulo, but we’ll have to see how things go in the next few weeks. They (potential signings) will be fully aware of the manager leaving and they’ll probably have decisions to make, but primarily they will be the right signings for our football club.

‘Obviously if we can talk that through with any potential new manager this week, every manager will be made aware of what’s planned, of what we have in place.

‘We play a system that Roberto Martinez started and Paulo carried on last year, and a lot of the signings we had lined up suit our formation, suit our system and suit our club.’
