Paulo Sousa said he was delighted to see Cedric Van Der Gun sign on a free at the Liberty Stadium.

Van Der Gun has been linked with a move to Swansea City for the past two weeks and the 30 year-old has finally put pen to paper on a 1-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.

The Swans were able to fend off interest from other clubs and he is now ready for selection on Saturday as we travel to Preston North End.

Sousa told Wales Online:

“I am delighted to bring Cedric in,”

“He is a player with a lot of experience, who likes to take on players and has very good technique.

“He is a good finisher as well and I expect his quality to help the team improve as an attacking unit.

“I hope he will score some goals too and help us win games.

“He knows Swansea well and he knows the football we play here, which is good.

“The fact he wanted to play in England really did help us seal the deal.”

“He is one of the players that could be in line for selection [vs Preston], that is all I can say.”

Van Der Gun has had spells with Ajax and Borussia Dortmund before spending the last 3 years at FC Utrecht. He scored 17 goals in 52 appearances for the club.
