Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins says Paulo Sousa may continue to strengthen his side when the loan transfer window opens in a week’s time.

The Swans boss has brought in three players within the last 7 days, strikers Craig Beattie and Lee Trundle, plus 22 year-old defender Abu Bakr on a three-month contract.

Dutch left winger Cedric Van Der Gun is also in talks about a free transfer and Jenkins says Sousa could still look to bring one or two more players in on loan.

‘We’ll wait for the next couple of weeks when players will return to fitness and we can get our squad back together,’

‘The manager does have a couple of players that he’s interested in and if they come off, they come off.

‘But it will only be one or two, if that.

‘There’s no panic on our side, I’m more concerned with getting our injured players fit again.

‘The loan window opens in a week and we’ll wait and see what develops then.

‘In my experience once the window opens you get a lot of players available that weren’t available earlier.

‘Paulo has a few things he wants to look at, but it depends what’s out there. We’ll take it from there.’

Swansea City had 11 players missing for the home game against Watford on Saturday, but Sousa’s injury problems will ease soon when Joe Allen, Ferrie Bodde and Darren Pratley make their returns from injury within the next few weeks.
