New French signing Darnel Situ says he’s relieved to finally join Swansea City.

The 19 year-old defender was expected to join the club from Lens in August 2011 but Fifa blocked the transfer, as they refused to give him international clearance to play.

Fortunately the paperwork has now been completed in this month’s transfer window, allowing Situ to sign a two-year contract to officially become a Swansea City player.

Situ said:

‘I’ve been waiting for over four months, but I’m happy now,’

‘I’m relieved and pleased to finally play.

‘I had to stay strong and work hard, and I knew that my day would arrive.

‘The manager has been speaking to me ? Alan Curtis as well ? and the lads are very friendly, so that has made it easier.’

Situ recently played a full 90 minutes for the Reserves team as they beat Hereford United 1-0, he added:

‘I am in a very good club with top players who know football. I know I will progress and develop here by training with these guys,’

‘I hope I will have chances to play, particularly at the Liberty because the fans are fantastic. They push the team on.

‘Every player wants to play in the Premier League and that is my objective.

‘There are very good players with experience in my position but at good clubs you have these challenges every day.’
