Swansea City winger Scott Sinclair says it’s ‘great to get off the mark’ as he scored the club’s first ever Premier League goal.

"He will be vital for a successful season, not only his goals, but his ability to cause doubt in fullbacks going forward knowing they have to track back against his pace and trickery."

The Swans hadn’t scored in their opening 4 games this season and it was vital that they found the net on Saturday against West Brom to boost their confidence.

Joe Allen was fouled in the box and Sinclair cooly slotted the ball home, sending Ben Foster the wrong way.

He told the Official Site:

‘It’s great to get off the mark, and I’m delighted that Nath has got a goal and Leroy too,’

‘As soon as the referee pointed to the spot I ran to get the ball and got into the zone of where I was going to put it.

‘I am practising penalties every day. Sometimes, when you are doing that on the training pitch, it is much different to the game.

‘But as long as when I step up I can roll it in then I’ll be happy.’

‘The main thing is that we have been creating chances, and now we are putting them away,’

‘Loads of people have been writing us off because we haven’t scored goals before this. The gaffer said we have to relax and be patient – it’s paid off.

‘It was a great team performance. We controlled the game and passed the ball very well. We also created chances and scored goals.

‘Hopefully we can kick on and create more chances like that next week.’

Swansea City travel to Chelsea next Saturday as Sinclair gets the opportunity to face his former club at Stamford Bridge.
