Gylfi Sigurdsson’s preference to stay at Spurs hasn’t helped their attempts in signing Swansea City in-demand-duo Ben Davies and Wilfried Bony.

A number of reports say that the Icelandic midfielder is not interested in a possible move to Crystal Palace or Swansea City – he wants to try and impress new manager Maurico Pochettino and earn a first team place.

Palace had a fee agreed, while the Swans wanted Sigurddson involved in a deal if they were to sell Ben Davies and Wilfried Bony.

This may force Spurs to look elsewhere for a left back and a striker, as they hoped that Sigurddson would help them sign their targets by him agreeing a move to Swansea – but his reluctance to do so explains the lack of progress over a deal involving the players.

Liverpool have also been linked with Ben Davies and Wilfried Bony, but hopefully reports that the Reds find the duo too expensive are true.

With Pablo Hernandez’s move to Al Arabi expected to be confirmed anytime soon and Michu set to complete a loan move to Napoli worth in excess of £1m, Swansea City will surely need a new midfielder to freshen things up in that area.

Netherlands international Jordi Clasie has again been linked with a move to Swansea City. The Feyernoord midfielder would be an excellent acquisition but the Swans will have to compete with other clubs across Europe for his signature.
