Gylfi Sigurdsson has agreed terms to join Swansea City on a permanent basis – as confirmed on the Official Site.

After agreeing a record £6.8m fee with Hoffenheim for the talented 22 year-old midfielder, the Swans are set to land their big Summer target as he is soon expected to undergo a medical before completing the move later this week.

The news comes as a massive boost as Sigurdsson made such a significant impact in the second half of Swansea’s fantastic debut season in the English top flight.

Recently, you wondered how the Swans would manage to pull off such a bargain deal for such an excellent player, what with the likes of Newcastle United, Manchester United and Arsenal all being linked with a move for the Icelandic international.

The club have also rubbish speculation that manager Brendan Rodgers is set to have talks with Liverpool about their vacant manager’s job.

It looks very unlikely that Brendan Rodgers would leave to join Liverpool, as it’s understood that he was the main influence for Sigurdsson to stay on at the Liberty Stadium.
