Former Swansea City players Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez have both told the press that they hope and want Ferrie Bodde to leave the Swans and join them at Wigan Athletic.

Before I continue, this is not a typical Vital Swansea story, where we include the quotes and more detail, but rather a rant at some of our former staff.

Well thanks guys, first of all, Roberto Martinez leaves us, then he takes the entire backroom staff with him, including a superb chief scout in Kevin Reeves. Then, he takes our top goalscorer with him – Jason Scotland and Espanyol loanee Jordi Gomez follows.

You’d think that was bad enough. We’re struggling at the moment with some of our key players missing, one of them being Ferrie Bodde.

Martinez wants to take another one of our star players and Gomez and Scotland are joining in the act and hoping that Ferrie joins them up North. Simply put, it’s a lack of respect for a club who’ve made their careers. Scotland’s dream move to the Premiership has come about thanks to a successful two seasons with the Swans while Jordi Gomez would still be struggling to find first team opportunities at Espanyol.

By the way, this was a story printed in the Western Mail, need I say more. I’m sure that that biased rag is hoping we lose another one of our star players and our struggle continues.

I won’t go on, and neither will I include their quotes, what’s the point.

What puzzles me though, is why Martinez is looking to pay millions for a player that two years ago he bought for next to nothing. Surely with his scout, and European network he’d find talent at a far lower cost, not that I actually care of course.

Before you say, bitter? No. Just annoyed that Scotland and Gomez are joining in the act and hope we lose another one of our best players, and that the Western Mail make a story out of it. I don’t wish to dwell on Martinez’s decision to leave us, we’ve moved on now and look forward now to a new era with Paulo Sousa.
