Jason Scotland has given Roberto Martinez a selection headache ahead of the opening game of the season on Saturday.

The striker has declared he is not fit to face Charlton Athletic despite his best efforts over the past week to get match fit.

Scotland Told The WM:

“I don’t think it would be right for me to go in from the start on Saturday because I don’t have as much match fitness and sharpness as I would want. But, while I wouldn’t be completely ready to go in, I still think I can do a job from the bench. Obviously I want to play, but it would be difficult for me and I’ve still got a little way to go. I started pre-season late and I’m not quite ready. I’m hoping I can be involved, but obviously it’s the manager’s decision. I will be pushing and knocking on the door though.”

Meanwhile reports from Holland suggest that Dutch trialist Micheal Van Der Heijden has signed a deal with the club.
