Score predictions and thoughts from Mark Lawrenson, Paul Merson and Vital Villa.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson and Vital Villa are both predicting a win for Tim Sherwood’s Villa, while BBC’s Mark Lawrenson is expected a 1-1 draw.

Lawrenson told BBC Sport his thoughts ahead of a ‘big game’:

This is a big game for both managers – Tim Sherwood is under huge pressure at Aston Villa, and Swansea are apparently looking for an experienced coach to help out Garry Monk.

Swansea were fourth when they beat Manchester United at the end of August but they have not won since and people just seem to panic when a team slips down the table.

It is bizarre because Monk has built a reputation as a good young manager, and losing a couple of games does not change that in my eyes.

His side have not won any of their last six matches, and this is his worst run of results since he went nine games without a win just after he got the job in February 2014.

But it was always going to happen at some stage and Monk will probably be a better manager when he comes out of it.

As for Sherwood, I am hearing that defeat on Saturday might mean the end for him despite what he achieved at the club last season.

It is a mad world we live in but it means neither manager can afford to lose on Saturday. Consequently, I am going to go for a draw and see what that means for them.

Lawro’s prediction: 1-1

Paul Merson told Sky Sports that he feels Swansea will be in a ‘real relegation battle’ if they lose on Saturday.

This is a game where both managers are dreading playing each other because they are both in such bad form, both are struggling. Since Swansea beat Man Utd they haven’t won a game, things have gone a bit pear-shaped and, if they lose to Villa I feel they are in a real relegation battle.

Vital Villa predict a 2-0 win for Villa, while their current poll, at the time of writing, suggests that only 36% of their fans agree, with a majority 54% predicting a Swansea City win.
