Swansea City look to have moved a step closer in signing Wayne Routledge as reports suggest that he could arrive at the club on Tuesday for a medical.

Middlesbrough striker Leroy Lita has agreed personal terms with the Swans and he could be joined by the Newcastle United winger on Tuesday when he undergoes a medical at the Liberty Stadium.

Routledge has been a target for Brendan Rodgers throughout the Summer but it appeared that a move was unlikely as the likes of Nottingham Forest and Leicester City could offer better weekly wages.

However, it now appears that after chairman Huw Jenkins and the players’ agent have held talks, a move now looks possible and they’re hoping the move can be completed as soon as they arrive back from Austria early next week.

If Wayne Routledge does sign, Brendan Rodgers will probably think his squad will be complete as soon as he finds a new goalkeeper. Another shot stopper to compete with Jose Moreira is his top priority now but the Swansea boss has admitted that time is running out – with just 2 weeks left until the season opener at Manchester City on August 15th at 8pm.
