Swansea City Brendan Rodgers was again very proud of his team after they won their first Premier League point of the season at home to Wigan Athletic.

"If we can’t get a goal or even look like scoring against them we are going to struggle."

There were no goals from either side but they both had excellent chances to take home all three points. Wigan boss Roberto Martinez and chairman Dave Whelan both thought they deserved to win, but Rodgers disagreed as he saw his side dominate the opening 45 minutes.

Rodgers said:

‘I was very proud of the team today,’

‘We grew again from Monday night and showed great qualities on the ball.

‘As a team we were very, very good. We created a lot in the box but at this level you need to put them away.

‘I thought a point was the least we deserved. We created a number of chances and we were just waiting for one to go in.

‘It’s a mark of the confidence of the team that for long spells today we were outstanding.’

Rodgers and his side will be looking to score their first goal and get their first win of the season next Saturday as they host Sunderland at the Liberty Stadium.
