Brendan Rodgers says Swansea City need ‘help and support’ from Ipswich Town to sign striker Jason Scotland on loan.

The Swans boss is looking to sign the frontman but their loan offer currently doesn’t match Ipswich Town’s requirements – which is to pay all of his wages during his loan period.

Unless the two clubs can reach an agreement on Scotland’s wages then it looks like the 31 year-old won’t be back at the Liberty Stadium.

Rodgers admitted that finances are a problem:

‘If you look around, there are not a lot of players for the sort of money we have,’

‘Leicester were able to bring in Yakubu, but we were nowhere near doing a deal like that.

‘Jason is a player who has not hit it off since he left here, but there is no doubt he was one of the most sought-after strikers when he was here.

‘He can come in on loan but I’m sure he will want to prove something to get a permanent deal here.

‘Jason left here on a Premier League wage and has gone to Ipswich on something not too dissimilar to that.

‘We need to go back to Ipswich for a bit of support and help. Whether we can do a deal is another thing. It’s now over to the club and chairman ? Huw (Jenkins) wheels and deals very well.’
