Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers paid tribute to his players after they won 4-0 yesterday at home to Sheffield United.

Rodgers says that finishing in the play-offs is a ‘wonderful achievement’ as the Swans look forward to their semi-final away leg at Nottingham Forest on Thursday.

‘It is a wonderful achievement for the club to finish third.

‘We have ended the season how we started at home with a 4-0 win and a fantastic performance. I want to pay tribute to the players because they are the most important people at the club.

‘With all due respect, it was difficult situation for Sheffield United because they came here with 4-5-1 and they were trying to contain a team who are sometimes unplayable at home. But some of their young players played well.

‘From the first minute we passed the ball, probed and were patient in our play – it was the hallmark of this team. We had good control and it was an excellent display and we are looking forward to the play-offs.

‘We will be the underdogs because Forest have been in the play-offs. They have been there last year and missed out. But we have great confidence and we will relish the two games.’
