Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says he’s not getting carried away after Sunday’s 5-0 win on Sunday against his former club Swansea City.

The Reds were in much need of a win after two defeats last week, a 2-0 home loss against West Brom before a 2-0 defeat away in the Europa League at Zenit St Petersburg.

Rodgers, who sees his side move up to 7th in the Premier League table, shared his reaction to the win:

‘I am an optimist, you have to be, but we’ll not get too carried away.

‘I’ve likened us to a marathon runner just getting ready for the finish line, ready to make our move, and then we trip ourselves up.

‘That is something we have to change going forward for the remainder of the season and finish as strong as we can.’

‘It was an important three points,’

‘We’ve had a bumpy road in terms of games Monday and Thursday but the Premier League is very important for us and we knew we had to show focus and determination.’

Swansea City will need to bounce back better than they have ever done before as they now prepare for one of the biggest games in their history – their first major Cup final at Wembley against League 2 outfit Bradford City.
