Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says it would be ‘ideal’ for him to sign a new goalkeeper by next weekend.

The Swans boss is looking to bring in extra cover between the sticks following the disappointing departure of Dorus De Vries. Jose Moreira has arrived on a free from Benfica but Rodgers still feels the need to sign another shot-stopper.

Rodgers has played down talk of trying to sign Nottingham Forest’s Lee Camp, but he’s hopeful to sign someone before they go to Austria for a week’s stay in a training camp. He told Swansea Sound:

‘I would like, if possible, to have something in place before next weekend – that would be ideal.’

‘You see how we play, it’s important that we get the right keeper. Someone that can fit into our style and our system.’

‘There are many good goalkeepers our there but there are very few who going to be able to come in and play with us.’

‘But we’re very confident that the one we do get will certainly help and provoke the team to continue to play how we do.’
