Brendan Rodgers said he was grateful to Chelsea for allowing Swansea City to sign Fabio Borini on loan for the rest of the season.

The Swans manager says the new arrival – 19 year-old Italian striker Borini – has lifted the spirits amongst the squad and he’s available for tomorrow’s home match against Nottingham Forest.

Rodgers says Borini is a ‘fabulous young talent’:

‘Fabio is a terrific young talent,”

‘His movement is fantastic for a young player. You could say he is a typical Italian number nine. He never gives defenders a breather and he has got the hunger to score goals.

‘To bring in a player to play in that position they need to have certain attributes. You need to move, be strong and be very aggressive. And the intensity of the player in that role is very important.

‘For this final run in I wanted to bring some freshness into the group. A new signing always sparks off other players and I feel straight away there was a feelgood factor in training.

‘I’ve always said I’ve been looking for certain types and that will never stop. He’s always scored goals and his movement is good, his touch is good and he sets up the game well.

‘I’m grateful Chelsea let us have him and we’ve got something in place that means there is an option to buy him at the end of the contract if he still doesn’t sign his offer at Stamford Bridge.’
