Brendan Rodgers says players need to leave before he can bring in new signings in January.

The Swansea City manager admits that finance is a big factor in bringing in new players and he says that we don’t have the budget that most teams in the division have.

Jordi Lopez looks to be one player who will leave next month, but more players will need to leave if we are to strengthen in the New Year.

Rodgers said:

‘We don’t have the funds available that many of the clubs in this league have.

‘I know last January (at Swansea) there was an effort made in terms of bringing players in to try to help the club push on.

‘But I’m not sure we’ll be able to do that this year unless we can manoeuvre the squad around.’

‘It’s about planning,’

‘I know ideally what we need to help us, but there are a number of things which will determine what happens and a big one is finance.

‘I have been speaking to lots of people, though, and hopefully there will be some movement next month.’

Rodgers says he expects players to move on, whether it’s on loan or permanent:

‘I think trimming the squad will be natural during this window and at the end of the season,’

‘Players who are not playing want to play and I’m sure if they are not getting game-time, they will want to get it somewhere else.

‘Some players will go out on loan, some may move elsewhere, but I think there will be a natural transition of players.’
