It looks like Angel Rangel has played his final game of 2011 after suffering ankle ligament damage during Sunday’s game

Swansea City have been dealt an injury blow with the news that defender Angel Rangel will be sidelined for around four weeks.

The Spanish right back suffered an ankle ligament injury during Sunday’s goalless draw at home against Aston Villa.

It was initially thought that Rangel would only be out for up to two weeks, but an MRI scan yesterday showed that he had suffered ligament damage.

Rodgers defensive problems are growing, what with Tate and Caulker also injured, but the Swans boss has no concerns with bringing in Jazz Richards as a replacement:

“I will have no doubts about putting Jazz in at the weekend if I need to,”

“Jazz has a great temperament. He is strong, he is aggressive and he doesn`t get beaten easily.

“And crucially, he also understands how we play.”

“I thought Jazz really grew into the game as it went on,”

“He maybe doesn`t have as much experience as some other players do, but part of that is because Angel has played regularly.

“But whenever he has been called upon, Jazz has done well for us. I`m sure that will be the case at Blackburn if he plays.”

“Whoever is missing, we have to keep on fighting,”

“We have to keep showing the quality and the spirit we have shown up until now this season.”
