Full back Angel Rangel says he finally feels like a real footballer after joining Swansea City this Summer.
In an in-depth interview with the Swan, our matchday programme, Rangel explains how different things are here compared to when he was playing for Terrassa FC in the third level of Spanish football.
|Back home you’d play in front of a few hundred people, possibly 2,000 at maximum for really big games, and then just go home.|
‘There would be no autographs to sign, fans waiting to speak to you. In fact, nobody away from the football club really knew who you were.
‘Here in Swansea it’s totally different. The crowds we get are unbelievable; fans are asking you for your autograph before and after the game; and people actually know who I am!”
‘People not only recognise me in the street, they actually come over to say hello and ask me to sign an autograph,”
‘It really took me by surprise at first. I thought ‘how do they know me?
Rangel also explained that he feels like a proper footballer at Swansea, having to sign autographs and getting recognised in the street.
|‘It may sound strange, But for the first time in my career I actually feel like a real footballer.’|
Along with Jason Scotland, Angel Rangel has to be our best signing this Summer. He joined for a very low undisclosed fee and has played consistently well throughout the season at right back.
It’s no mean feat taking over Alan Tate’s right back position, a place he’s owned for the past few seasons, but Tate will find it extremely difficult to get it back this season. He’ll be looking to get a place in the centre of defence when he returns from injury.
