QPR are again being linked with making a bid for Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.

The fellow Premier League side were reported to have made a £2.6m bid for the Welsh international, but the Swans denied these claims.

Huw Jenkins denied that they had received a bid from QPR for Williams in the Summer, and explained what agents can sometimes do:

‘We haven’t had [any] bid for Ashley Williams… we’re not selling Ashley Williams,’

‘I think we mustn’t forget really that there’s a lot of speculation about players like Neil Taylor, Ashley or a few others.

‘Agents in this day and age do, rightly or wrongly, get things out in the press, maybe a negotiation tactic to get more wages, bigger contracts – it’s just part and parcel isn’t it of the Championship and now the Premier League.’

Local press in London are suggesting that QPR will now bid £5m in the January transfer window in the hope of landing the defender.

Swansea City are struggling for defenders and with Williams being such an important part of the team, it would take a substantial bid to tempt them to even consider selling him.
