Swansea City trialist Jamie Price is hopeful that he can secure a permanent deal with the club this week.

The club have been looking at Price and Belgian/Senegalese striker Ibrahim Thaim in recent weeks. Both players have featured in both pre season friendlies so far with varying degrees of success on the pitch.

Price who was plucked from Cheltenham Town fc for £100,000 by Birmingham City at the tender age of 15; is looking to secure first team leauge football.

The Welsh u19 defender was asked by Martinez to stay on at the club for an extra week of assessment.

Price told The South Wales Evening Post:

”I just want a chance to prove to everyone what I can do.

And to get that at a club which is on the up like Swansea would be fantastic.

I don’t know where I’ll go next if it doesn’t work out for me – I’m not thinking about that. I’m just putting everything into trying to do well here.’.’

After seeing him in action over the course of two friendlies at Neath and Llanelli he may be worth a 1 year deal.

He seems to light weight and in need conditioning and strength training to cope with the rigours of this leauge.

Price who is naturally a left back did look uncomfortable on the ball but did work to get into positions to receive the ball.

The Swansea Defence is an area that is in need of strengthening. The LB position is somewhere that we do have cover with the inclusion of Rangel in the Squad. What is fundamentally needed is a CB not a Wing back.

It is anticipated that the two trialists Thiam and Price will know their fates after the game tonight.
