Swansea City midfielder Darren Pratley has today been linked with a free transfer to Premier League side Bolton Wanderers.

The former Fulham player sees his current deal at the Liberty Stadium expire at the end of the season and ever since he refused to enter new contract talks, his future has been in serious doubt for most of the season.

The 25 year-old, who was signed in 2006 by Kenny Jackett for £100,000, has been in and out of the side this year when usually he’d a regular for us in the centre of midfield.

A number of clubs have been linked with Pratley, including Wigan Athletic, Newcastle United and West Ham United, while there was long-term speculation linking him with a move to Nottingham Forest.

Pratley’s refusal to enter new contract talks towards the end of 2010 sparked a negative reaction from some fans, as sections of the Liberty Stadium crowd unfairly booed the player who refused to commit his future to the club.

Unless we do the unthinkable and achieve promotion to the Premier League – which may tempt Pratley to change his mind – it looks very likely that he will leave Swansea City at the end of the season. A big shame to see a quality player leave after 4 excellent years with us, but we don’t want players who don’t want to be here.
