Saturday’s super strike from Gorka Pintado seems just the start of things to come from Martinez’s new Summer bargain buy.

The former Grenada CF forward came off the bench to score on his debut, rounding off the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

It was a sublime touch of the ball with the outside of his foot to convert Mark Gower’s cross from 12 yards out.

But Pintado declared it wasn’t his best goal of his career, and hopes there’ll be better ones in the near future. He told the Evening Post:

‘It’s not the best goal I’ve scored but a very important one,’

‘I do hope to score more goals better than this.’

Pintado replaced Jason Scotland with around 25 minutes remaining and he certainly gave manager Roberto Martinez some thinking to do over who starts up front when we travel to Plymouth next weekend.

Who should Martinez play up front next Saturday at Plymouth? Pintado or Scotland in a 4-4-2 or should Pintado start on his own in a 4-5-1 formation?
