Andrea Orlandi has given the club a big boost as he’s in talks to extend his contract at the Liberty Stadium.

The former Barcelona B player told Wales Online that he feels his future is at Swansea City after making a very important decision in the Summer to stay in South Wales.

The left winger, who has been playing in a central role under new boss Paulo Sousa, hardly got a chance to show everyone what he can do under former manager Roberto Martinez but he’s had the opportunity this year to get a good run in the first team.

Orlandi also said he’s now learnt from his mistakes and regretted not speaking to Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola before leaving to join us two years ago.

“It was a big decision for me to sign a new contract in the summer,’

“I had not played a lot of football and then, with a new manager, you can be nervous about committing your future – especially with some of the lads we have fighting for places.

“But I remembered when Swansea first came in for me I had the chance to speak to Guardiola, who had just become reserve manager at Barca.

“In the reserves at Barca you have a lot of very talented players, but they were 16 or so and I was 22 at the time.

“I didn`t feel that was for me so I didn`t feet the need to speak to him.

“Afterwards, especially when you look at what Guardiola has done at the club, you think maybe I should have just listened to what he had to say. I really regretted it.

Talking about his future and a new contract, Orlandi added:

“We have been in talks with the chairman and the manager,”

“Everything is fine and there is a good understanding between us.

“I don`t want to think too much about it right now and others might want to talk about it more than me but I see my future here.”
