Walsall FC’ site editor Ian Lowndes answers a few questions on the new L1 campaign.

Walsall fc were relegated to L2 in the 2005/06 season but have bounced straight back up to L1 after securing automatic promotion alongside Hartlepool United and Swindon. .

4th up in our Opposition focus series is therefore Walsall. Saddlers Vital Editor Ian Lowndes answers a few questions on next seasons League one Campaign.

1.What Is your name ?

Ian Lowndes

2.How Long have you supported Walsall?

‘It has been 39 years since my first Saddlers game, your making me feel old now!!!’

3.Do you think you will do well in L1 Next season?

‘Of the three automatically promoted teams I considered us to be the most poorly prepared team to make the move into league one. We built a team to get out of league two, and have cleared the decks to rebuild so our level of success will depend on who is brought in, and how well the crop of promising young players we have adapt to a higher league.’

4.Where do you think you will strengthen for next season?

‘As I said we released a number of players and also lost two players to The Posh (money talks!!). So we will need to be busy in the transfer market. Strikers are the main priority as we only have Martin Butler on the books at the moment. However full backs and midfield also need attention.’

5. Who do you think is Swansea’s most dangerous player?

‘Of course everyone rates Lee Trundle, but I do feel he casts a shadow over some good players at Swansea, your wide players have always caused us problems.’

6.Where do you think Walsall and Swansea will come next season?

‘I would expect us to finish behind the Swans but hopefully not too far behind. Both in the end of season play off hunt hopefully.’

7.Will you be making the journey to the Liberty Stadium next season ?

‘I enjoyed my last visit to the Liberty Stadium but I hate the journey so wasn’t too pleased to be drawn away to you in the cup as well, but I will be there.’

Thank you Ian and have a safe trip down should you make the journey to south wales.
