It’s not been a topic that we’ve covered extensively here on Vital Swansea, mainly because there’s been little concrete news to report on – but just speculation and rumours with new names being mentioned every week.
Some media outlets may decide to report on every update in regards to the latest bookmakers’ odds and how they’re constantly changing but that’s a pointless exercise when a lot of the time the odds and names included are determined by bets and requests for names to be added. As an example, requests for Kevin Reeves and Thierry Henry to be added recently appear to be the reason why they’re amongst the top 10 favourites.
Thanks for your patience with this Jack. Colin Pascoe has now been added at 25/1 here > https://t.co/kIDStFTPb3 Fancy it?

While fellow Championship outfit West Brom are reportedly closing in on former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic to take over at the Hawthorns, Swansea City are still going through the process of narrowing a list of more than 60 applicants down to less than ten.
Recently it was reported that Tranmere Rovers boss Micky Mellon, a recent favourite in the bookies was ruled out and will not be having a second interview this week while the likes of Cameron Toshack, Michael Appleton and Gus Poyet are still in the frame along with former Nuremberg manager Michael Kollner. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has also been mentioned as a possibility this week with some rumours suggesting that he’s one of many who have had talks about the role.
Today, according to the reliable journalist Stuart James, Dutchman and Wales’ number two Albert Stuivenberg is another contender for the job and he also confirmed that Poyet, Toshack and Appleton are on Swansea City’s shortlist. QPR’s caretaker manager John Eustace is another mentioned in his tweet (below).
Understand that Albert Stuivenberg, Wales No2 & former Man U assistant, is among the contenders for the Swansea job. Appleton, Poyet & Toshack on the shortlist. John Eustace considered too.
Tricky situation, bearing in mind importance of playing style & club's financial position— Stuart James (@stujames75) June 5, 2019
Played attractive football at Genk, 88 points in 50 games but I think poor results at the start of his 2nd season led to his sacking. Worked alongside van Gaal at Manchester United. https://t.co/xEw9TFyE3Y

Swansea City fans were also glad to see another update from chairman Trevor Birch this week as we still await confirmation on their decision of who will succeed Graham Potter. In summary, Birch confirmed that interviews took place last week which involved former player Leon Britton and will involve Alan Curtis “when we are in a position to shortlist”.
“We have spoken to a number of people who have shown great quality and desire to manage this football club going forward.
The fact that we have had so many quality applicants speaks volumes on how attractive and well respected this football club is within the game.
We still have some more candidates to interview early this week, after which, we will have a much clearer picture on how we are going to progress and move to our final shortlist.”
