Captain Garry Monk is back in contention to face Cardiff City in tomorrow’s big derby game

Swansea City could be boosted tomorrow as captain Garry Monk is back in contention to face Cardiff City.

The defender has missed the last 3 matches with a calf problem but he could be back in the starting line-up to face the Bluebirds as the Swans aim to make history by completing the first league double in the Welsh derby.

Also back in contention to play are midfield duo Joe Allen and Andrea Orlandi, who have both been out for around a month with injuries. They featured last Saturday at home to Ipswich Town – coming off the substitutes bench.

On loan Burnley defender David Edgar is hoping to start in the derby match at left back, but Monk’s return could mean that Alan Tate takes his place.

  • it’ll be good to have him back to ease our defensive problems but his body language in the west brom game wasn’t good at all in my opinion
