Mike Dean has been demoted to the Championship this weekend, which is very unfortunate for us because he’s in charge of our game at Bristol City.

Well I say the term ‘in charge’ very lightly, as I’ve never really seen him take total control of a football match. He’s one of my least favourite referees, not only because of his penalty cock-up at Cardiff City last season but his complete annoying and arrogant body language on the pitch.

He’s not at all good either.

Mike Dean refereed last weekend’s big Premiership game between Manchester United and Chelsea, and he, along with assistants, made a number of big mistakes. Drogba was offside for his goal, there was a handball before Macheda’s goal and both sides have what looked like certain penalties rejected by Dean. Not only was he criticised by Sir Alex Ferguson, but Burnley boss Brian Laws was also not happy with Dean after his performance in their 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers the week before.

Paulo Sousa has been critical of many referees this season, saying we’ve been harshly treated by the officials. Hopefully the Swansea City manager will be praising another good performance from his side on Saturday, rather than concentrating more on a poor refereeing display.
