Michu could face up to a month out with an ankle injury and has returned to his native Spain to recover.
Last season’s top goalscorer for the Swans picked up the injury during last Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at arch rivals Cardiff City.
It was initially thought that the 27 year-old would miss the next two games this week, but he could miss more despite there being a 2-week international break coming up.
Manager Michael Laudrup also revealed that Michu has been struggling recently with both knees:
‘Michu has been struggling and now he is out again for maybe three or four weeks,’
‘At times he has not been at his best because he has been struggling with both his knees for a few weeks.
‘Now he has injured his ankle as well. He will go away (to Spain) for a few days and hopefully everything will get better at the same time.’
The news comes as a blow to Swansea City as they’ll be without one of their most influential players for up to five games.
